About
I am a visual artist and designer based in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. I have exhibited and participated in residences both nationally and internationally.
My work is inspired by the environment both natural and built and its combination with its material culture contemporary and historical. In my processes, I experiment with a variety of media and techniques from drawing, painting and sculpture.
My practice primarily is concerned with constructed textiles and traditional textile techniques such as weaving, hand spinning and dyeing. I research traditional textiles techniques and their heritage and incorporate these within her contemporary artwork.
I have ten years' experinece as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Textiles course, and currently I teach on the BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Shetland UHI, and Programme Lead of the NC Portfolio Course.
I hold an MA in Textile Art and Design and in Teaching of Design and Visual Communication from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest.
